As we have mentioned before….we are not hunters but we are VERY good gatherers. All of our hides, feathers and bear grease come from local hunters who are feeding their families but would have discarded these ‘left overs’. (Processed by Women)

Bear Grease is a traditional Indigenous medicine. Black Bears have an unusual amount of fat on their bodies because they spend summers building up energy for hibernation. Over the winter Bears survive on this energy through their fat build up. For hunters who are eating the meat, the fat is not generally used.
