Brand New sizes. We have been making our 16″ whtie ash frame for a few years and it is very very popular. BUT I have to admit it is kinda heavy. Some singers find it too much. SO, we FINALLY found some time and made a new 14″ frame.
We are using Elk Hide on these drums and specifically selecting the thicker part between the shoulders. The white ash is a hard wood which helps the hide produce a deep rich tone. We always wrap our hide over to the back of the drum, because this makes a stronger, longer lasting drum. The absolute BEST way to protect your drum from humidity changes is to cover your drum in leather…the classiest way is with one of our beautiful drum bags. We live in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal where white ash trees are abundant. We have a local farmer who selectively manages his forest and harvests limited trees per year. We bought this wood several years ago and have been air drying it above our workshop. We then cut, plane, then cut again and created a 16 sided frame drum that is 16” diameter and 3” deep.
